Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call in his speech at the United Nations in September 2014, the United Nations General Assembly passed a unanimous resolution in December 2014 to declare June 21 as the International Day of Yoga (IDY). The IDY was observed in virtually every country across the world in 2015 and 2016. Singapore observed the IDY with great enthusiasm, with participation of more than 4,000 people in both the first and the second IDY.
To observe the third International Day of Yoga this year, several events are planned in the week of June 17-25 at more than 60 centres in the Singapore.
These will be held in partnership with ActiveSG, People’s Association and a number of Yoga centres and other institutions in the city.
Participants can choose a centre and day/time to participate in the IDY by registering online at http://idayofyoga.org/singapore
