Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India will be organising the second edition of “BHARAT KO JANIYE” (BKJ) quiz contest. The quiz contest will last for few months and is conducted to motivate overseas Indian youth to enhance their knowledge about India. It was after the Prime Minister’s initiative, Ministry of External Affairs organized the 1st edition of “Bharat Ko Janiye” Quiz contest for young overseas Indians in 2015-16.
“Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz is open for participants in PIO, NRI & Foreign Nationals (Two categories) between the age of 15 and 35 years as on 1 Jan 2019. The topics covered in the quiz include Indian Art, Indian Democracy, Economy, Geography, Personalities in Music and Dance, Science & Technology, Languages & Literature, Education, Tradition of Indian Crafts, Indian Cinema, and Renowned Indian Personalities. Online registration at Portal www.bharatkojaniye.in is compulsory to participate in the quiz contest.
“BHARAT KO JANIYE” (BKJ) quiz contest will be conducted in four rounds. The first round will be an “online” quiz conducted by the High Commission of India. This will be opened for the contestants from September 16 to September 30, 2018 (local time). Participants can register on the BKJ portal till 15 September 2018 (local time). This round will contain 30 questions and should be answered in 25 minutes with no negative marking. Indian origin youths do not possess OCI/PIO cards may also participate in the 1st round without submitting proof of OCI/PIO documents. The top 3 contestants from 1st round of each category will qualify for 2nd round and will be given medals by the High Commission.
The second, third and fourth rounds of the Quiz will be conducted by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The 10 finalists from each category will be invited to India for a “15 days Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra” including a visit to Lakshadweep (Union Territory of India). There will be a special workshop for participants selected for 3rd and 4th round of the quiz at New Delhi before the “Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra”. They also will be provided with free airfare and accommodation for the entire duration of their stay in India. Top three winners of the Quiz contest will be awarded with medals and certificates, at the “Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention 2019”.
