സിംഗപ്പൂര്‍: ഇന്ത്യയും സിംഗപ്പൂരും തമ്മിലുള്ള നയതന്ത്ര ബന്ധത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി ഇന്ത്യയുടെ മൂന്നു യുദ്ധക്കപ്പലുകള്‍ സിംഗപ്പൂര്‍ തുറമുഖത്ത് എത്തിച്ചേര്‍ന്നു. അത്യാധുനിക മിസൈല്‍ സംവിധാനങ്ങളടക്കം ഘടിപ്പിച്ച തദ്ദേശീയമായി നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച ഐഎന്‍എസ് സഹ്യാദ്രി, ഐഎന്‍എസ് കമോര്‍ത്ത എന്നിവയും എണ്ണ വാഹിനിക്കപ്പലായ ഐഎന്‍എസ് ശക്തിയും ആണ് ഇവിടെ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചത്.
വളരെക്കാലമായി ഇന്ത്യ-സിംഗപ്പൂര്‍ നയതന്ത്രബന്ധം വളരെ സുദൃഢമായി തുടരുകയാണ്. ഐഎന്‍എസ് സഹ്യാദ്രിയില്‍ നടത്തിയ പത്ര സമ്മേളനത്തില്‍, സിംഗപ്പൂരിലെ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഹൈകമ്മീഷണര്‍ ശ്രീ ജാവേദ്‌ അഷ്‌റഫ്‌ ഇക്കാര്യം ആവര്‍ത്തിച്ച് വ്യക്തമാക്കി. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ നേവിയുടെ പശ്ചിമ നാവികാസ്ഥാനത്തിലെ മുതിര്‍ന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരും പത്ര സമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു. അടുത്ത മാസം അമേരിക്ക, ജപ്പാന്‍, ഇന്ത്യ, സിംഗപ്പൂര്‍, ഓസ്ട്രേലിയ എന്നീ രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ നാവികസേനകള്‍ അണിനിരക്കുന്ന സൈനിക അഭ്യാസം “എക്സര്‍സൈസ്-മലബാര്‍” -ഇല്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഈ മൂന്നു കപ്പലുകളും പങ്കെടുക്കും. തുടര്‍ന്ന് അമേരിക്കയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ഇരുപതിയെട്ടോളം രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ നാവികസേനകള്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന RIMPAC (Rims of Pacific) നാവികാഭ്യാസത്തിലും ഇവയില്‍ ഒരു കപ്പല്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കും. ഈ അഭ്യാസത്തില്‍ ഇത്രയും നാള്‍ ഇന്ത്യ നയതന്ത്രനിരീക്ഷകരുടെ റോളില്‍ മാത്രമേ പങ്കെടുത്തിരുന്നുള്ളൂ. ആദ്യമായാണ്‌ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഒരു യുദ്ധക്കപ്പല്‍ ഇത്രയും വലിയൊരു നാവിക അഭ്യാസത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നത്. ഇത് ഒരു തുടക്കമാണെന്നും, ഇനിയങ്ങോട്ട് കൂടുതല്‍ കപ്പലുകള്‍ വിന്യസിക്കാന്‍ ഭാരതീയ നാവികസേനയുടെ ആലോചനയില്‍ ഉണ്ടെന്നും മുതിര്‍ന്ന സേനാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ പത്രസമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ അറിയിച്ചു
A bright, sunny and windy morning in Singapore, was a perfect setting for a visit to the RSS Singapura, Changi Naval Base, to be part of an invited gathering aboard the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri, a guided missile frigate. An informal interaction with the High Commissioner of India in Singapore, H.E. Mr Jawed Ashraf and the Eastern Fleet team was the highlight of the morning.
The fleet, made up of INS Shayadri, INS Shakti and INS Kamorta were visiting Singapore as part of India’s Act East Policy. INS Sahyadri and INS Kamorta are indegeniously constructed vessels while INS Shakti was built in Italy. All the three were commissioned into the Navy, in phases, between 2002 and 2014. INS Shayadri is a guided missile frigate, whilst INS Kamorta is an Anti-Submarine Corvette and INS Shakti is a fleet replenishment oil tanker which sails with the fleet. They form a formidable assault team as part of the Eastern command. Each of the ships would play a designated key role in an actual war situation.
During the interactive session with Mr. Jawed Ashraf, he briefly mentioned that India has very cordial and good relations with the Singapore Navy. He stressed on the importance of India’s naval exercises with other ASEAN countries as well as with the Pacific nations. He briefly touched upon the multilateral MALABAR -2017 naval exercise that the INS Sahyadri took part in, with the US and Japanese navy and stressed on the important role that India plays in the Indian Ocean.
Overseas Indians in Singapore experienced the warmth of the friendly ties as they toured the ships docked at the Changi Naval Base and posed for pictures in front of the flags of the visiting ad host nations – India and Singapore respectively,
