Google added to the Malaysian Independence Day celebration -Hari Merdeka- with a Doodle on their Malaysia search page. Symbolically at midnight August 31, 1957 in the newly constructed Stadium Merdeka (Independence Stadium), the British handed over the instrument of independence to the Prime Minister-designate Tunku Abdul Rahman.
Hari Merdeka Celebrations
In 2013, Malaysia will celebrate its 56th Hari Merdeka. Since 1970, each year is given a specific theme, often with a customized logo and song. No theme has been set for 2013 yet, but it usually reflects the patriotic spirit of the Malaysians.
