India appointed Dr.TCA Raghavan as new high commissioner to Pakistan. A 1982-batch IFS officer, Raghavan is currently serving as India's high commissioner to Singapore.
Mrs. Vijay Thakur Singh, the joint secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, has replaced Dr TCA Raghavan, who has reportedly been finalised for the critical Islamabad posting. Mr Raghavan is expected to take up his assignment next week..
Prior to appointment as High Commissioner to Singapore, Mr Raghavan was Head of the Division dealing with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran in Ministry of External Affairs.
Apart from his stint as Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad (2003-2007), his previous overseas postings include United Kingdom (1995-1998), Bhutan (1992-1995) and Kuwait (1983-1986).
Mr Raghavan will replace Sharat Sabharwal, who would be returning this month end from Islamabad.
Raghavan has considerable experience in dealing with Pakistan, including heading the Pakistan Afghanistan and Iran (PAI) division. He also served as the charge d' affaires in Islamabad.
Mrs. Vijay Thakur Singh (IFS: 1985), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, is expected to take up her assignment as India's high commissioner to Singapore shortly.
