Singapore: Indian Minister for External Affairs, Salman Khurshid and Singapore Foreign & Law minister K Shanmugam said on Thursday that bilateral relations between India-Singapore remain strong, and they look forward to further areas of co-operation.
“Bilateral relations are excellent as before and we are discussing on further areas of cooperation. Bilateral trade between two countries stands at 24 Billion dollars, with over a million tourists vising Singapore each year. We are discussing on further areas of trade and cooperation”, said Shanmugam.
Indian Minister for External Affairs Salman Khurshid said “We see Singapore as important stepping stone towards align relations in ASEAN region, and beyond. India sees Singapore as extremely important bilateral partner in the, field of political collaboration, field of security, field of economic growth, shared prosperity and also the very important cultural link that we share.”He also added that India admire Singapore for their its management techniques and would like to combine the understanding of technology, together to address concerns and for mutual benefit,
Mr.Shanmugam said that his ministry will study how Singapore can participate in the Delhi-Mumbai corridor project, India's most ambitious infrastructure project.
India and Singapore are marking 50 years of diplomatic relations in year 2015. The year-long celebration would also include a Singapore festival in India and an Indian festival in Singapore and the details will be revealed in next JMC meeting.
The bilateral ministerial meeting was held at the Pinnacle@Duxton- first time a ministerial bilateral meeting taking place at the public housing project.
